The 2011 models that will be available at BMW X3 Massachusetts dealer BMW of Peabody are the X3 xDrive28i and X3 xDrive35i.
The X3 xDrive28i will be powered by BMW’s award-winning magnesium/aluminum 3.0-liter inline-6. This engine, called the “N52,” has been awarded as one of Wards 10 Best Engines of the Year in 2006 and 2007. The BMW X3 xDrive35i will be powered by BMW’s newest engine, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 “N55” engine that combines direct fuel injection, twin-scroll turbo technology and Valvetronic.
New for 2011 is an 8-speed automatic transmission that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions and makes for a quieter ride.

Both the BMW X3 xDrive28i and xDrive35i feature a long list of standard features and optional equipment.
The plush interior arrives fully equipped with standard features Boston BMW drivers will love. The eight-way power adjustable front seats have two-way manual headrests and driver-seat and mirror memory. With a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, Fineline Siena Wood trim for the 25i and Silver Matte trim for the 35i, driving will be extremely luxurious and comfortable.
Other features include Vehicle & Key Memory, automatic climate control with micro-filter and air recirculation, tilt/telescopic steering wheel column rain-sensing windshield wipers with Automatic Headlight Control, iDrive system with on-board computer and Controller, and eight programmable memory buttons, Bluetooth wireless technology, Power front windows with “one-touch” up/down operation, power rear windows with “one-touch” down, an ambiance light package that includes with front exit lights, front and rear map-reading, footwell and visor-mirror lights and dynamic cruise control.
The standard audio system is an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with 12 speakers that includes Radio Data System, Auto-Store and auxiliary audio input adapter for portable music players. All audio controls, as well as cruise control and Bluetooth controls, are mounted on the steering wheel.
Safety features include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which includes Brake Drying, Brake Stand-by, Start-off Assistant and Brake Fade Compensation, Hill Descent Control, front and rear anti-roll stabilizer bars, gas-pressure shock absorbers, Brake Energy Regeneration, 4-wheel ventilated anti-lock disc brakes and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
The Crash sensor activates Battery Safety Terminal, which disconnects the alternator, fuel pump and starter from the battery, automatically unlocks doors and turns on hazard and interior lights in the event of a collision.
